How much is it per player and what does the fee cover?

For the upcoming season, the fee per player is $150 for the Rec program and $400 for the Classic program. The fee covers registration and the program's uniform for this season for one player.

Is there a family discount? When may I expect the discount to show?

Yes, there is. We are happy to be able to offer this year an additional $25 discount for the second, third, and fourth child, up to a maximum discount of $75 per family. Once tryouts and evaluations are done, our Registrar will reach out to all parents/guardians of rostered athletes with next steps on how to request the family discount. Discounts will come in the form of a reimbursement. We anticipate being able to reimburse all allowable discounts by mid December.

Do you offer an installment plan?

We are happy to be able to offer an installment plan for credit card payments this year. This year's plan will be four payments due on October 5 (the last day of registration), November 15, December 15, and January 15. A $3 installment fee will be charged by Sports Connect for every transaction which will add a total $12 per player to the program fee.

Is there a scholarship program available?

We have full and partial scholarships available. The total number we can offer is limited to available funds. Additional details, including how to apply, is available through our 2021-2022 Scholarship Assistance Form. If applying for a scholarship, please complete the form and email to first. She will then advise you on next steps for completing the player registration via Sports Connect.

If my player tries out for a Classic team and doesn't make the team, is he/she automatically registered for the Rec program?

Yes, your player's registration is brought over to the Rec program's list. Your player will still need to attend Rec evaluations in November for team placement. Once we have final team rosters, we will reimburse difference of the Classic fee minus the Rec fee.

What is your refund policy?

We are able to refund fees up to final team placements have been made, after Classic tryouts or Rec evaluations have been completed.

Do we have to wear masks?

Because we use the Sherwood School District facilities, we will need to comply with the current guidelines. As of September 3, 2021, masks are not required for indoor or outdoor competitive sports, when in active play on the court. Spectators, coaches, and athletes on the sidelines or stands will need to wear a mask.

If masks become required for active play and we choose to pull our player out of the program, will we be eligible for a refund?

If teams have not yet been finalized, yes. We are unable to issue refunds once a team roster has been finalized.

If the season is cut short due to state or local guidelines for COVID-19 safety, will we be eligible for a refund?

The SBO Board is committed to ensuring players and families are made whole where we can make it possible. We will discuss the potential of a partial refund based on the guidelines, the current situation, and the timing within the season.

My player wants to try out for the High School program. If he/she doesn't make the team, can he/she still sign up for the Rec program?

Absolutely! The High School programs will hold their tryouts in mid-November. It's exactly for this reason why we close our registration for our High School Rec program at the end of November. This year, registration closes on November 30 and evaluations are tentatively set for the week of December 6.

Can non-Sherwood kids sign up to play?

SBO's programs are limited to youth who are Sherwood residents and/or attend a school based in Sherwood, OR.
