  • How many teams are there for each grade level?
We hope to have two teams for each grade level. We sometimes have 3 teams for a grade level if we have enough kids who are able to play at this level. There are times we only have one team for a grade level and this happens if we don’t have enough kids to make two teams.
  • Who runs tryouts and chooses the teams?
The Sherwood High School Boys Basketball Coaching Staff runs tryouts and selects the teams, in collaboration with paid Classic Coaches. We do not involve parents of players who are trying out in the tryouts evaluatioon process.
  • Is there a scholarship program available?
We have full and partial scholarships available for the 2024 - 2025 season. The total number we can offer is limited to available funds. Additional details, including how to apply, is available on our Scholarship Application Form. Please complete the form and email to registrar@sherwoodbasketball.com first. Our Registrar will then advise you on next steps for completing the player registration. If you already paid and your player is approved for a scholarship, our Registrar will process a refund of your payment.
  • What do the tryouts look like?
Coaches run drills, skills, scrimmages, and other various competitive activities over a two-day tryout.
  • When and how will we find out about the teams?
An email will be sent to everyone that tried out. This email will include the team rosters. This email will be sent within three days of the conclusion of tryouts.
  • My player wants to try out for the High School program. If he/she doesn't make the team, can he/she still sign up for the Rec program?
Absolutely! The High School programs will hold their tryouts in mid-November. It's exactly for this reason why we close our registration for our High School Rec program at the beginning of December.
  • I missed the registration window. Is there a wait list?
For the 2024 - 2025 season, there will be wait list option for our programs that will open the day after the regular registration for your athlete's grade closes. Our wait lists vary by program but may close 1 - 3 days after registration closes. Log in to your account to sign up for the wait list. If you have any questions, please email registrar@sherwoodbasketball.com.
  • What is your refund policy?
We are able to refund fees up to final team placements have been made which is within 1 - 3 days after Classic tryouts.
  • When are practice days and times?
Our teams usually practice twice a week on weekdays. The actual day and time slot will depend on gym availability and coach's choice. The practice schedule is usually finalized the week after rosters are made.
  • Do you accept coach and/or teammate requests?
Our teams' rosters are determined by our coaches. As we are not able to guarantee placement, we do not accept coach and/or teammate requests.
  • What size basketball should my kid use?
For girls, please use a 28.5" basketball. For boys, grades 3 - 6 will use 28.5" and grades 7 and above will use 29.5".
