How much is it per player and what does the fee cover?For the 2024 - 2025, season, the fee per player is $175 for the Rec program and $600 for the Classic program. To learn more on what the fee covers, please visit our Programs page.

Is there a family discount? When may I expect the discount to show?Yes, there is. We are happy to be able to offer this year an additional $25 discount for the second, third, and fourth child, up to a maximum discount of $75 per family. Please make sure to indicate in your player's registration that his or her registration is part of a family discount application. Discounts will come in the form of a reimbursement. We anticipate being able to reimburse all allowable discounts by the end of December.

Is there a scholarship program available?We have full and partial scholarships available for the 2024 - 2025 season. The total number we can offer is limited to available funds. Additional details, including how to apply, is available on our Scholarship Application Form. Please complete the form and email to registrar@sherwoodbasketball.com first. Our Registrar will then advise you on next steps for completing the player registration. If you already paid and your player is approved for a scholarship, our Registrar will process a refund of your payment.

What is your refund policy?We are able to refund fees up to final team placements have been made which is within 2 - 3 days after Classic tryouts or Rec evaluations have been completed.

If my player tries out for a Classic team and doesn't make the team, is he/she automatically registered for the Rec program?Yes, your player's registration is brought over to the Rec program's list. Your player will still need to attend Rec evaluations in November for team placement. Once we have final team rosters, we will reimburse the difference of the Classic fee and the Rec fee.

Do you allow kids to play above their current grade level?It is our policy that athletes play for the school grade they are currently enrolled in. Exceptions to try out may be granted and team placement will be based on skill level and the number of players registered. These are rare and require SBO Board approval. We recommend you register your athlete for their current grade and let us know via registrar@sherwoodbasketball.com your athlete's request for an exception.

My player wants to try out for the High School program. If he/she doesn't make the team, can he/she still sign up for the Rec program?Absolutely! The High School programs will hold their tryouts in mid-November. It's exactly for this reason why we close our registration for our High School Rec program at the beginning of December.

I missed the registration window. Is there a wait list?For the 2024 - 2025 season, there will be wait list option for our programs that will open the day after the regular registration for your athlete's grade closes. Our wait lists vary by program but may close 1 - 3 days after registration closes. Log in to your account to sign up for the wait list. Can non-Sherwood kids sign up to play?SBO's programs are limited to youth who are Sherwood, OR residents and/or attend a school based in Sherwood, OR.

When are practice days and times?Our teams usually practice twice a week on weekdays. The actual day and time slot will depend on gym availability and coach's choice. The practice schedule is usually finalized the week after rosters are made.

Do you accept coach and/or teammate requests?Our teams' rosters are determined by our coaches. As we are not able to guarantee placement, we do not accept coach and/or teammate requests.

What size basketball should my kid use?For girls, please use a 28.5" basketball. For boys, grades 3 - 6 will use 28.5" and grades 7 and above will use 29.5".
