High School REC Outline
High School Rec Outline for 2017-2018 season

Registration Fee of $125 for boys and $100 for girls, Includes NEW game jersey which player can keep

- Practices are held once per week, on weekday evenings. Practice times could be impacted by school closures due to weather or school functions/holidays.
- Practices held at area schools from 8pm to 9:15. Practices typically 75 minutes in length and must end no later than 9:15.
- Teams will be formed in mid-late November, after registration closes and SHS teams are formed. There will be two divisions in HS Rec for both boys/girls teams: Junior/Senior division and Soph/Frosh division.
- Seniors will be asked to form their own teams after the registration process ends. This will include providing SBO with the name & contact info of a coach/parent coordinator to oversee the team. No coach/parent volunteer, NO TEAM. Senior players not affiliated with a team will be assigned to form their own team or join other teams on space available basis and be placed on a team by the HS Rec Coordinator.
- Junior/Sophomore/Freshman boys players will be assigned to their respective teams after a mini-evaluation and draft to be held in mid-November. Please review the ‘core 4’ model below which details how the Frosh/Soph/Junior teams will be formed.
- SBO will also need coaches or responsible parents willing to lead ALL the teams. No coach/parent to lead team, NO TEAM. Ask your parents to step up and help lead your team for the season. No experience necessary.
- A 10 game season is planned on the boys side and are to be scheduled on Saturdays (usually between 8am-7pm) at Laurel Ridge Middle School for home games.

The ‘core 4’ will be made up from the parents that step up and coach a team (non-Senior) this season. The coach’s son/daughter will recruit 3 other friends they would like to play with and the balance of the team will be filled in as described below:
- SBO will use these “core 4” preferences as the building blocks of team formation but will also rely on a mini-evaluation (1 hour) in mid November to assist SBO with creating parity with ‘balanced’ teams in this division. If you do not show up for the mini-evaulation, you will be randomly placed on a team.
- Interested coaches should contact the high school rec coordinator at
- Teams will be backfilled with players after the registration process and after the Frosh/Soph/Junior evaluations. The goal is to create BALANCED teams.
- Boys season will be Sherwood vs Sherwood only except for a inter-city tourney (against Tualatin) to be scheduled at some point during the season.
- First games to be scheduled for Saturday, December 9th (subject to change)

On the girls side, the plan is to plan against Tualatin and Tigard teams as well as Sherwood teams.

- An 8 game season is planned on the girls side and are to be scheduled on Saturdays (usually between 8am-7pm) at Laurel Ridge Middle School for home games. The 8 game schedule is based on the number of expected teams. This can be adjusted if more teams form than expected but this is why the girls fees are less.
- First games to be scheduled for Saturday, December 9th (subject to change)
- Practices to start in November - more details to come.
